Music Festivals in The United States

Music and dance are considered to be two of the most popular forms of traditional entertainment that people around the world enjoy.

On this page, you will find a list and description of some of the most popular music festivals in the United States.

Burning Man

This festival held in Nevada desert in the United States is arguably one of the most popular music and arts festivals in the world. This festival is not for the fainthearted as it is held in the middle of the desert and you need to be well prepared. You are also encouraged to make a bit of a fashion statement at this festival, by wearing Mad Max-type clothing. The Burning Man is known for last minute surprise additions to act lineups and the burning of the sculptures when the festival comes to a close.

Coachella

This festival is for the trendy crowd and is held at Indio in California’s Coachella Valley. It is known for having bands in its lineup that are on comebacks as well as those who are just having one last hurrah in the sun. There are plenty of pool parties and the scenery is also pretty stunning in this part of the world, with sunset over the San Jacinto mountains. Palm Springs and the Joshua National Park are within easy reach.

Lollapalooza

This festival used to be nomadic when it was set up in 1991, but it has had a permanent home in Chicago’s Grant Park since 200. This festival is definitely for those who love and miss the heyday of 1990s music. There are usually eight stages and hundreds of acts. In the past, it was pretty much packed with people who grew up in the 1990s, but that genre of music has made a comeback of late and a much younger crowd has begun to flock to this festival. To cater for the younger ones, the festival organisers now host several after party gigs in the city’s nightclubs.
